学科组介绍:鲸类保护生物学学科组的前身是1978年秋成立的白鱀豚研究组。本学科组致力于白鱀豚、长江江豚、中华白海豚等国家重点保护水生珍稀野生动物的保护生物学研究,重点研究濒危动物致危的内部与外部机理、种群动态监测理论和方法、小种群生物学和物种复壮理论、濒危动物繁殖理论和技术。围绕物种保护问题,深入开展种群生态学、繁殖生物学、声学和行为学以及保护遗传学研究,重点解决就地保护、自然迁地保护和饲养繁殖的理论及实践问题。本学科组拥有占地2万平方米的白鱀豚馆科研基地,豚馆内饲养有6头长江江豚,设立生态学、声学和行为学、生理学以及分子生物学实验室。现承担国家基金(重点项目、面上项目及青年项目)、国家重点研发专项子课题、农业部长江江豚保护行动计划专项、国际合作以及地方委托等20余项课题。目前,本学科组主要开展以下研究:1)人工饲养及半自然条件下长江江豚繁殖理论与技术研究;2)长江江豚自然迁地保护研究;3)自然条件下长江江豚及中华白海豚种群数量监测及栖息地保护研究;4)长江江豚及中华白海豚的濒危机理与保护对策研究;5)江豚和中华白海豚的声学及行为生态学研究;6)江豚的保护遗传学、分子生态学、适应性进化,以及微生物组学和病原菌鉴定研究;7)扬子鳄、大鲵及海豹等珍稀水生动物声行为研究;8)涉水工程、水下噪声对珍稀水生哺乳动物影响的评估及保护对策研究。
仪器设备:较完备的生理学和分子生物学仪器设备,声信号记录及分析系统,行为数据记录及存贮系统,野外生态考察、动物跟踪及数据采集系统。
