聚焦脊椎动物干扰素系统及其在抗感染中的功能研究：1）发现并命名了脊椎动物IV型干扰素，解析了其受体系统及抗病毒功能；2）探讨了脊椎动物I型干扰素基因转录调控的保守性及其演化特点；3）揭示了爪蟾IV型干扰素基因转录的调控机制，鉴定了IV型干扰素诱导的干扰素刺激基因（ISG）家族；4）开展了水产经济动物天然免疫系统及其抗病原感染方面的研究。近五年发表SCI论文40余篇，其中第一或通讯作者（含共同）19篇，申请专利5项。主持国家自然科学青年基金、优秀青年基金各1项，国家重点研发计划子课题1项，担任国家特色淡水鱼产业技术体系绿色药物研发与综合防控岗位专家，并参加了2项国家自然科学基金重点项目和中科院B类先导项目的研究。
研究方向：
1、低等脊椎动物干扰素系统的功能与演化。以鱼类、两栖类及爬行类动物为研究对象，通过分子生物学、生物技术和生物信息学的手段，开展比较免疫学研究，探讨脊椎动物干扰素系统的基因、组成分类、受体系统、表达调控、信号转导、诱导基因与抗感染功能。
2、微生物与宿主免疫系统互作。
